Brief
Lume Gallery was opening a group show about the coast, with nine artists working in paint, textile and sound. The poster had to hold them together without picking a favourite medium.
Approach
I sampled colours from the gallery’s limewashed walls and from the sea outside, then cut large flat shapes that overlap like tide marks. Every shape was made in paper first and scanned, so the edges keep their slight wobble.
Result
The palette carried on into the catalogue cover and the wall texts inside the show. Visitors kept asking for the poster itself, so the gallery printed a small signed edition.
