A magazine feature on summer fabrics needed illustrations that captured the season without copying the fabrics themselves.
Approach
Every image is built from bands of colour only, with no outlines, so the stripes do the drawing. I kept to five warm colours and let the paper show between the bands.
Result
The feature’s opener was chosen as the cover of the issue, and the magazine reused the stripes for its summer subscription campaign.
